Technical Note Re Portal PagesPlease be aware that the computer systems currently in service within the CONTACT Program, still use legacy directories/file names etc., which are largely evolutionary outcomes of ARPANET, the IBM 5150, and the work of the NSF and DoD starting in 1981, when the acumulated data was first entrusted to disk. The CONTACT Program's data is accessed through UN Portals prefixed with the standard UNSC# label, but for clearances above UNSC5, you may encounter Portals prefixed with the special two letter UNSGC Security Clearance abbreviations as specified below. The number defines a compartmentalised subject code, to which access is permitted, which was derived from the original paper filing system wherein all material related to the current CONTACT Program were assigned to a set of cabinets labelled #397384. The last three digits of the code is a chronological reference, that start with '045' for 1945, the year of the UN's foundation, and marks the sub-cabinet. Finally, the letter suffix are the file directories (drawers). Subordinate files have their own path and extensions as per normal.
UNSGC Portal ID & Alpha-Numeric Ranges These UNSGC portals can ONLY be accessed via a UNSC5 Portal. In normal use though, access is seamless, and unless you have a technical need, you will be unlikely to be required to directly interact with these systems.

* A PORTAL that is within the UNSGC system, but that carries pages with no mention of the CONTACT Program.
