OPERATION STIRLING BRIDGE

08/03-04/2013

POST OP NOTE:

As due to flight conditions there was only one actual off-world mission, the majority of the time was use in Battle Practise on the Saturday and an Expert Infantry Course on the Sunday. Details are scant as NO debriefings or AAR's (After Action Reports) have been posted.

Operations Order

Projected Flight Conditions

Gate behaviour continues in becoming increasingly iratic, with the distance between operational cycles becoming longer and longer. The last such operation, was CON-86, conducted over the weekend of 11/24-25/2012, and known as "OPERATION X" as no operational name was assigned. CON-89 is scheduled for November 30th this year, and the forecast for nextyear is however for four operations. According to both surviving records and the collective memory of the Gatewatch staff, these conditions have never been as serious before, and we conclude that they can only be associated with increasing influence of the systems Black Hole root at G-1597 and or the interference of the alien infestation currently under way. Likewise the enemies deployment and use of nuclear weapons in an attempt to sever the spline, cannot, we think, be completely ruled out as a causal effect upon the systems aborant behaviour. Nor can our approach to sunspot maximum, which in the past has caused similar problems in the cycle. This time it is running later than in previous solar cycles. Solar activity continues to varry between 30 and 50% greater than the previous sunspot maximum, that co-incided with the last drop off in Gate activations in 2000 ~ 2001.

Signal Spikes for planetary target acquisition on the system are extremely eratic, varrying between an energy level of 15× and 25× above the "normal" amplitude. This is an increase over the 14× recorded at CON-86. No stable Gates are listed at this time (see the chart below). Therefore the Gate Tower's Gravity Wave detector is likewise continuing to pick up strong signals of a similar magnitude, which means that the Gate is once again "leaking" gravity. Thus as per CON-86 we can not garuntee crew safety within the wormhole. "Anti-G" suits will be issued to Flight Crews to aid in reducing the risks of G-LOC (Gravitationally induced Loss Of Consciousness) in flight. Please be aware these are standard USAF and RAF issue Anti-G suits which are rated to 9G (the max for fast jet aircrews). Civilians not rated for up to 9G, will like those personnel who fail their medical, will automatically lose Flight Status and be asigned to Ground Crew duties, so as to avoid unnecessary casualties. Please ensure that you have reported in to the CMO for pre-flight innoculations.

Alien Biological Contaminant (ABC) Levels

The aggregate post CON-86 M1/M2 ABC level stands at 571 units, that is 75 above those recorded at CON-83 (496U). This is almost six times the volume detected prior to CON-52 OPERATION BANNOCKBURN 03/4-6/2005. Wherein "100 units" was the base line reference figure for the M1, with M2's at trace levels, a value that had remained stable since 1947. The post CON-86 OPERATION X (11/2444-25/2012) total of M1 type ABC recovered from equipment deployed off-world, achieved a total of 313U, being only the third recorded decrease in the type. A reduction of -22U was detected at CON-86, compared to the -20 decrease over CON-84.

As with CON's -84, 83, -77, -74 and -73 there was an extremely significant jump in the recovered levels of the M2 type of ABC at CON-86 when compared to CON's -074 and -068 (wherein for the first time the M2 level had reached 3 units, whereas prior to CON-66 it was stable at c.0.34u). At CON-74 the level of the M2 type of ABC achieved 37u, almost double that of the previous reading, and post CON-77 the figure was 46. At CON-86 the M2 level was 254U, which is now almost 45% of the total ABC levels. See the ABC Saturation Report by Major Kira Lewis (RGHQ-51). Special effort must be made to collect air, water, rock, soil and foliage samples, plus Enemy Prisoners of War (EPW), during OPERATION YORK to coroborate the data. Type 2+ EPW's are also vital to the ABC recovery program, without which we will eventually have no medical supplies or munitions. See the Alerts section below for the reminder on the policy regarding T1 EPW's.

The precautionary principal dictates that CON-88 will be subject to the EXTREME ABC Protection Protocol, as levels are expected to be dangerously high off world. Note that it will be necesary for all exterior gear to be removed for decontamination immediately upon return from off world missions, to ensure personal and collective bio-safety post flight - WITHOUT EXCEPTION! The so-called "boot room" has been specially adapted for this purpose (Level 2, room #208). CON-88 will like CON-86 before it conclude with a 10 day mandatory "lock down" pending a full medical and equipment inspection/decontamination at each of our operational facilities. We at Gatewatch thank you for your co-operation in maintaining bio-security.

Alerts & Special Orders

NB: Regarding the XAD1471, the system will only function during a standard Gate cycle period (formally circa 3 days in 60), and require circa 24 hours of pre flight charging. The Ground Crew can then force the Gate to open to or from G-0799 and RGHQ-51 respectively on one or more ocasions. Or for one outbound and one inbound flight to another target of your choice. It can only be safely used by prior arrangement at a specified time or when the inter-planetary comunications systems are working adequately, so that an authorised request by the off-world team can be processed to activate the Gate and open the iris to ensure a safe landing. For BIFROST a 35+ minute window of opportunity is required in the natural Gate cycle to allow for flight time, and the earlier the Gatewatch crew are advised of an intended launch or recovery mission the safer it will be for the SG team. For example, the short notice given by the surviving Engineers (OPERATION WINCHESTER, CON-68), resulted in losses during their return flight. Other targets will need their flight times to be assessed pre-launch.

NB: Where personnel serve at the same rank, their seniority in the chain of command has been determined firstly by the holding of specific posts, time in post, then a comparison between their Promotional Points and their level of training (Expert Infantry Course Units & Battle Practise Units). New personnel, that is, Marine Recruits, Specialist Recruits and Civilian Recruits, have had their seniority determined first by whether they are military, trained or untrained civilians, and secondly by date of enlistment, or in simple alphabetical order as appropriate. This latter point is for all practical purposes a purely administrative decision. In the field natural leadership skills would be more important, presuming that it should ever become relevant. Officers on Attachment serve in an advisory capasity only, and those listed in Support have authority with regard to base management and security issues only.

GATEWATCH Chart

GATEWATCH reports that as of 09:30Z there are NO stable inbound or outbound wormholes for CON-88. Therefore the S3 must decide which targets they would like to attempt to make a connection with, using the XAD1471 system.

Gate#: G-0736

SG Team:
Captain King (1IC)
Staff Sergeant Richard Bauer (/2ICMO)
Corporal Carl Wolfe
Recruit Charles Oses

Order out of gate: Wolfe, King, Bauer Oses.

Injuries:
King – Leg & arm
Wolfe – Leg
Bauer – Arm
Oses – Leg

Summary:

  • Journey through gate was very rough and disorientating also the unit exited in a different order to when they entered the gate.
  • Bauer got injured on right arm when he came out of the gate.
  • Exited the gate in a starburst.
  • King noticed lights in the trees. Went to investigate, climbed the hill and found no evidence of any lights only boggy ground.
  • Dropped back to the gate and proceeded in a westerly direction in a diamond formation.
  • Crossed two bridges, after the second bridge found a village.
  • Due to the darkness, both red and white light was used.
  • Whilst in village noticed two red lights heading towards village from the direction of the gate.
  • Due to time constraints, was unable to investigate.
  • Headed back to gate by skirting about the edges of the path.
  • As we got closer to the gate, the red light that was seen challenged us, unfortunately the SG unit didn’t respond, this resulted in gun fire, the team split and returned fire, injuring the hostile.
  • Proceeded to the gate, where barrels were noticed, both King and Bauer went to investigate, unfortunately a grenade was launched, luckily no one was injured. Then someone opened up, King was shot in the leg, but was still able to fire on the second hostile. Bauer was able to help Wolfe and Oses.
  • The hostile was like a Type 2, but seemed slower, they took a lot of fire; unfortunately the anti-type 2 weapon (T2ID), was not deployed as that was with King. Fortunately as the hostile ran out of ammo the gate opened and all personnel were evacuated.
  • The trip back was once again rough and once back at the SGC all injured personnel were sent to sickbay.
