Courtney served as a member of TASC through 1994~1996. Then assigned to lead the British contingent out of BASE-78 in Antartica from the 14 JUL 96 through to 29 MAR 99. Finally on 01 APR 99 he was appointed as the S5 at RGHQ-51, attached to the regimental Military Police Company. His primary brief is to provide operational oversight. Courtney was never appointed as the regimental OC (Officer Commanding). His responsibilities extend only to the operations of the terrestrial base and its grounds, although he is authorised to serve as an advisor to the OC.
