Dean Wayland at Military Odyssey 2013

Dressed for battle: Dean is photographed wearing a plain pale green cotton SHITAGI or under shirt, with a black linen EBOSHI "crushed" or "folded" cap, secured with a HACHIMAKI a "war wrap" or sweatband of folded cotton. This is one of the styles of clothing worn beneath armour when at war. Japanese helmets or KABUTO have almost no padded lining, and so the cap and wrap perform this function. It does mean of course that once they are soaked and dirty they can be easily replaced in the field with clean and dry ones - a very neat idea!

Note that in the background at lowere left is a rack of war arrows, ready for loading in to a quiver.
