Issued: 17 1828Z NOV 06
Important Notice: In respect of our notification of 03/17/2006 it is our duty to report that due to delays to the repairs to the Gate Tower's systems, the alarm and defence components are still yet to be installed. However a basic flight service is available for CON-62.
Gatewatch reports that until 1755Z their were a total of only 9 usable inbound and outbound wormholes for CON-62. However at that time, the entire Gate system became erratic, with extremely large amplitudes and a huge number of signals. The Gatewatch system has suffered some minor EMP damage, however we can report that the system is now operational. Since, that time the Gate system has been almost silent. At the time of our report we are detecting 3 wormholes forming. We calculate maturity for 18 c.2100Z NOV 06 for all signals, see below. Likewise we estimate the target as C105 as we are getting several varying target locks. If they do not stabalise by that time, no flights will be possible. We will keep you apprised verbally. Gatewatch 50, 52 and 54 were in the present operational cycle, all reporting similar levels of activity, with very few useful, yet incredibly strong unresolved signal spikes. At 17 1755Z their systems suffered a similar malfunction. However, SG#50 is reporting a complete shut down of their system. Whereas SG#52 is reporting just one upcoming signal which corresponds to their Gate link to C105 (18km) from G0002 of the SG#51 spline. During CON-61 the agrigate total of ABC recovered from off-world equipment reached +91% above pre-CON-52 levels, which is an increase of +12% over CON-61. Therefore CON-62 will be subject to Extreme ABC Protection Protocols. Additional NBC suits and filters will be provided. Thus it will be necesary for all exterior gear to be removed for decontamination to ensure personal safety - NO EXCEPTIONS! CON-62 will like CON-61 conclude with a mandatory "lock down" pending a full medical and equipment inspection/decontamination at each of our operational facilities. We at GATEWATCH apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation in maintaining bio-security. |

Mission 1
Intelligence Summary: Standard Arborial world. Lots of gate activity in this area. Multiple contacts made, 1 prisoner and a cannister of Weapons Grade Uranium sent to Porton Down. 2 team members lost on the previous CON retrieved. Type-1 activity and reported Type-3 activity in the area. Fort Apache is approx 10 miles (15km) from this gate site. Mission Debrief:Alpha Squad: 2LT Sackville-West, LCPL King, SGT Palmer, LCPL Owen. Bravo Squad: LTC Ryhs, 2LT Lewis, CPL Carter. Both teams left the SGC carrying 2 boxes, 1 per squad. LCPC Owen carrying for Alpha Squad and LTC Rhys carrying for Bravo Squad. SOP, to avoid Contacts (except CLEGG team), map gates and try and meet the CLEGG team to deliver boxes. Travel through wormhole was different from travel of late. This transit was very smooth but felt as though we were travelling though a very powerful magnetic field. Teams experienced retinal flashes, body hair standing up, arcing between teeth. Comparable to reports from Chernobyl and shuttle crews. Rhys was not aware of the ground layout of the Gate site but Sackville-West was so Alpha team took point. No injuries upon landing, but the gate travel order was scrambled. 2 – 3 mins after arrival we heard another gate open to our left, no sign of Contacts. Heard 4 more gate activations, approximate times - 21:14, 21:30, 21:55, 22:40. Refer to Sackville-West’s map for approximate layout. It is possible that we missed gate sites in the woods. The unit then found a gate and passed some difficult terrain to an open space with woods to our left. Saw light moving in the distance and so set up a defensive perimeter whilst 1 member of Alpha squad challenged the figure with the light who was rambling and disorientated. He identified himself as Dr Walter Easil and was expecting to meet Cheyenne Company. The Dr was carrying a box described as for ‘re-processing’ see DSTL report into box contents. After interrogation the Dr reported that he was delivering this box to ‘NI’. After pressing he revealed that ‘NI’ is Nakamura Industries. We retrieved the box from the Dr and then saw lights in the woods. Both teams started to leave scene, and shouted out the CLEGG password with no reply several times. Tried one last time and got the correct response. Sackville-West got the team to sign for the boxes, Sackville-Wests box first then Rhys moved up and the exchange was made. Teams then separated, Alpha and Bravo teams left scene with Dr Easil. We carried on down past the edge of the wood. Heard another gate, could have been the CLEGG team leaving? Shortly after the gate went off, Palmer reported that he could see a gate. Teams moved up the gate location. Sackville-West then organised a sortie into the woods to recon. Both teams moved into the woods, Sackville-West’s team in the lead. They passed some structures but had no time/manpower to clear this area which appeared unoccupied. Bravo team moved up. Both teams moved up to the top of the rise. Sackville-West team first, Bravo when scene safe. Both teams were leaving the woods when 2 hostiles went white light and shouted UNSGC, asking for an officer of rank. Hostiles recognised as Church D, and Ward C formerly missing in action since CON-61 mission 7. Church seemed very tightly wound. Sackville-West spoke to them and the situation calmed. Both teams then retired to the gate site with 22 mins to go and gate hugged. With about 15 mins to go till Gate activation 2 contacts arrived, walking along the track, not hostile as such but most likely type-1’s. They were not aware of our presence till we made them aware. 1 was in a purple…. who obeyed instructions, the other wouldn’t obey. They said that there was a type-3 chasing them, and had we seen their other team member, an engineer? The 2 wanted to use the gate but Sackville-West made the decision not to let them and to give them some type 3-incapacitation devices to make them go away. 1 was given to each and they went away but grudgingly. During he exchange church was very agitated and had to be restrained. At one point he had a knife to the throat of one of the unidentifieds. Colonel Rhys managed to calm Church. They were not made aware that we had the Dr. As the gate opened a fire fight erupted behind us between unknown parties. Alpha, Bravo, the Dr and the 2 retrieved team members then left through the gate. Church and Ward first. Return flight was the same as the outbound flight. After Action Reports: 2LT Kira Lewis, Intelligence Officer, RGHQ 51Destination: VXC105C (G-0002). Outbound Gate 21:02 - 21:11, Inbound Gate 1: 22:06 - 22:22, Inbound Gate 2: 23:43 - 23:58. Alpha Team: 2LT Sackville-West, LCPL King, SGT Palmer, LCPL Owen. Bravo Team: LTC Ryhs, 2LT Lewis, CPL Carter. Parameters: Transport UAV material to C105 and rendezvous with CLEGG 621 for delivery. When material has been delivered locate as many gates in the area as possible before return Gate. I was acting field medic for this mission and was also carrying a type 3-incapacitation device. Brief by LTC Rhys en route to the Gate was that this mission was at the request of a CLEGG team that we were to meet and deliver 2 boxes of UAV parts to. The CLEGG team were already on C105 but there was no set rendezvous point. Password - BOSTON, response - BEANS. I was second in line for transit, which was smooth compared to recent travel, but felt as through I was passing through an intense EMP field. Upon egress from the gate there was no one in front of me. I took up position on the front/right of the gate despite feeling unwell from transit. Terrain was dark and appeared to be Standard Arboreal as per previous reports. The Gate was situated by a road, with a field rising to the right and woods descending to the left. The other team members began to exit; also in a different order from entry, all were disorientated due to transit. Alpha squad took point with Bravo to the rear, LTC Rhys carrying one of the boxes, LCPL Owen the other. The road curved up and round to the right, then to the left and levelled out, then began to decline. At the bottom of the hill we found a gate and after some basic reconnaissance we continued round and ended up in a large open area with the woods to our left. A red blinking light and another steady reddish light was seen moving toward our position along the edge of the woods. Both teams went to ground as one member of Alpha went forward and challenged the unknown. Contact was a single man, confused, bandaged, carrying a box with a light on it. The blinking light was a ‘dead-mans’ beacon. Contact was a Dr Walter Easil and he was looking for Cheyenne Company out of Fort Apache, he said he was being chased by ‘something bad’. LTC Rhys took the box and after much loud protesting D r Easilwas restrained via shots to various limbs by LTC Rhys and was finally tied up. Moving lights were seen coming towards us through the woods and we began to move away, leaving the Dr, until it was realised that CPL Carter was missing. There was no response from him after repeated hails by which time the unknowns had exited the woods and come upon Dr Easil. Finally the unknowns identified themselves as our CLEGG team with the correct response to the password question. CPL Carter was found and the boxes were handed over. The CLEGG team then left the area. LTC Rhys charged me with guarding the prisoner and we proceeded. Upon questioning the Dr said he was delivering the box back to ‘NI’ for re-processing. He was reticent to tell us more but after some coaxing revealed that the contents of the box was radioactive (see DSTL report) and that NI was Nakamura Industries. He said that they did a lot of business with Nakamura and that he is a Nuclear Engineer. He said that he had walked for 6 days after he got separated from the team that were escorting him when they were attacked by the ‘bad thing’ just out of Fort Apache and that non of the Gates he had passed on the way had worked for him. We found a second gate and 2LT Sackville-West decided we should scout the immediate wooded area before heading to our outbound Gate. LTC Rhys concurred and Alpha team took point into the woods. After a short survey they pronounced it safe and Bravo team and the prisoner entered. Whilst Bravo team waited for Alpha to scout some more I questioned the prisoner again and asked him to keep quiet should we meet any more unknowns until their identity is established. He said that if we met any of the ‘bad things’ he would be running away before they got to us as he could ‘feel’ them coming. Both teams were exiting the wooded area when there was a disturbance up front. It would seem that 2 team members (CPL Ward and Church) lost off-world on CON-061 had escaped from capture and run into us. They both seemed edgy and we all made a hasty retreat to ‘Gate-hug’ until activation in approx 21 mins. Everyone went to ground by the Gate. With approx 10 mins to go voices were heard on the road. Upon approach the 2 figures were challenged, they identified themselves as part of Dr Easil’s team and asked if we had seen him. The Dr, fast asleep, was not made known to them as it was deemed unnecessary. The 2 reported that they were afraid, as they were being chased by something ‘bad’, and wanted to use the gate. This was denied them until after we had exited for unknown reasons by Command. Church seemed very upset and had to be restrained by LTC Rhys, The unknowns were given a Type-3 incapacitation device each by 2LT Sackville-West and asked to leave. They did but grudgingly. At less than 1 min to Gate activation a fire-fight erupted back along the path between unknown parties. I grabbed the box, passed it to LTC Rhys and attempted to wake the Dr who, due to his exhausted condition, refused to wake. The gate activated and after my repeated requests for some help to move the Dr, finally LCPL Owen helped me get him through the gate and into transit. Transit back was the same as transit out except that we exited in the same order as we entered the gate this time. Dr Easil was immediately sent to Porton Down for further tests, the canister was opened and contents verified before being sent to Porton Down also (see DSTL report). Upon return the teams were debriefed and then Ward and Church were interviewed by base personel (see below). Other related Material Debrief of Church and Ward. All base personel present. Transcription by 2LT Kira Lewis, Intelligence Officer, RGHQ-51.We both woke up about 1 month ago in a cell. In the beginning all 4 of us were together, Church Ward, Briggs and Clarke. The Type-1’s were treating us pretty good, setting us up to become like them, brain washing us, but they have no Gloop so they were going to let us turn naturally. They wanted us to turn Type-1 NOT Type-2. The soldiers were very professional and they have some kind of Gate-Watch system set up. The Type-1’s have found something, something about Fossils and Builders. They talk a lot about Phoenix and that it’s not just a place but a thing, they are really excited about it. Not all of them are English and sometimes it’s really difficult to understand what they are saying. The ones that spoke English didn’t say anything that we wanted to hear. Today we woke up and the door was open. Our captors seemed angry because they had lost someone. It seems like someone on the inside is helping the prisoners out, possible ex team members? They made it possible for us to hear things that were going on, captors would start talking loudly etc…. today the door was open and so we slipped out and went past a pile of nuke stuff and bits of UAV, we raided the armoury and climbed up the 40 ft wall. We found bits of paper in the guardroom that looked like a UN Gate-watch sheet but we couldn’t get it as there was someone coming. The format was similar, it read like a Gate-watch sheet but in an old style? We couldn’t make it out properly. Outside the building we saw what looked like aerials and weather balloons. The Type-1’s were all really upset as they were saying they had been put back months but also that something that had gone wrong. They are starting to leave the base, taking everything out, the base is being stripped. It appears that they are making U.A.V.’s themselves. The weather balloons not high enough to be monitoring the weather, they are about the same height as some of the aerials. The base is all bellow ground, nothing important is above ground. Briggs and Clarke got taken away weeks ago. We don’t know what happened to them. [At this point the Brigadier advises that Briggs has been missing for 4 months] Briggs was beginning to act strangely, paranoid but then relaxed and calm. When we arrived we were in bad shape but they fixed us up, they would take us out of Medbay for fresh air but we weren’t allowed to see much of the base. [Ward hands me a map drawn on a scrap of paper]. The area is a bit like an Area 51 for Type-1’s and there are areas that some of them don’t even go into. There is something called the Builders that the Type-1’s have discovered, they say they are the most amazing things ever, like something that you don’t want anyone else to have. Fort Apache has a working Gate-watch system and they seem to have all their records from the beginning as they have had no Operation Clean Sweep happen to them. Fort Apache has tunnels that go on for 200 meters and are 2-3 meters across. There seem to be 2 main structures with 3 main levels; we have no ideas of their numbers as not all the personnel are based there. They are really excited about fossils; fossils kept cropping up in conversation. Some of the tunnels are carved out of stuff, possibly rock. Now that we know Nakamura have sided with the Type-1’s it seems likely that they have had a hand in the Operation Clean Sweep’s that keep happening to UN bases. AAR Intelligence Update [27 OCT 18]Shortly after this operation the planet bearing Fort Apache and the Zero GATE (G-0000) were designated as P621, being the mission in which Ward and Church were recovered, bringing significant intelligence with them. In particular the nature of the Zero GATE, which explains the historical losses that have occured when attempting to execute a Pathfinder mission to this GATE, and to its opposite number at the far end of the Spline (G-1598) on P567. Both GATES have extremely small access, meaning that for humans or any animal to attempt transit, the result would be fatal. Other than a means of communications, these "seed" GATES appear to have no other function. However, it is interesting that on P567 the End GATE is surrounded by others of the same Spline, providing access to wormholes, yet that on P621 is the only GATE of the SG51 Spline. Have we misjudged the nature of The Builders? (AS#1) |
