About The UCMJThe UCMJ is overseen by the office of the UNMC's Judge Advocate General (JAG) branch, and serves subject to the special provisions of the Corps' establishment. Comprising 146 Articles, the UCMJ covers all offences requiring a Courts Martial, and includes the regulations related to 'Non Judicial Punishment' (NJP). Together with the Manual of Courts Martial or MCM, the UCMJ has provided the legal backbone of the Corps since its inception in 1996. In addition to links to the on-line UCMJ, selected Articles and a PDF download of the MCM, you will also find links at the top to Wiki pages as an introduction and guidance for non-US military and civilian personnel, that maybe of assistance. Note that the links to the Wiki pages about the two US Courts of Appeal, the ACCA and COAAF, are for reference only, as the UNMC has only a single tier for Apeals hosted by JAG, as all juditial practise must remain internal to the UNMC for reasons of security. Therefor all prosecuters, defence council and judges are JAG personnel, who conduct all Courts Martial and any appeals. No external legal representation is permitted. Post appeal, all sentences are final, the Corps having its own fasilities for incarseration/punishment. |
