***Training Mission only***
Intelligence Summary: No info regarding world or terrain. Former Nakamura facility that had 2 gates one of which had been destroyed. Multiple contacts encountered.
After Action Reports:
Philips response team:
Steve G - military, special ops group, i/c
Chris B - military
Glyn W - military
Lez C - civilian, security department, intel group
De Beer, R - civilian, intel group?
Scratch team of survivors put together in the aftermath of a gate disaster at C105B.
All team members had been injured and though treated none were operating at peak efficiency. One of the team members had also been rendered partially deaf which made communicating a very loud affair, especially as the team contained civilians who did not know any combat hand signals. Another team member was so exhausted it was a miracle he could stand never mind walk. For added joy we also had a portable computer to protect.
Cryptic message to guide us:
ESCAPE MAZE ROUTE ... GATE SIXTY ONE RV ZERO
Apparently the message meant we would have to make like lab rats and pass a bit of a test, required going to assigned points and following further orders. The area was a Nakamura facility with two gates and one had blown big time.
Specific instructions:
Pick up any tech found.
Leave no biological materials, ie leave no bodies.
Made good speed to location 61, as this seemed the most promising start point. Nothing obvious, so spent 15 mikes searching the location, inside and out, but found nothing. Heard firefights in the near distance sporadically throughout the mission.
Two unknowns approached and identified themselves as members of the British Army (SAS?) looking for a professor Jules [admin note: operative Joel / Dr Forsyth?]. Confirmed we had not met such a person and they ran off.
Had an idea that the message may have meant to go to location 60 to RV with one person, another 15 mikes spent searching. For added humour value at this point it started to rain.
Back to location 61 and another fruitless search. While there we had two more encounters. The first was a patrol heading East directly to the North of us, we made like statues and let them pass on. The second was potentially more serious. A group was spotted coming out of the South, from an area that intel had marked as clear but dangerously unenterable (ie out of bounds). The point man of the unknown team made the mistake of running past me while on perimeter guard and was shot down. Communications were opened and the team identified themselves as a group from SSI, and I'd just killed their leader. Ooops. They were just as lost as us. Rumours from them that there were snipers active in the area, and that the British Army unit we had met had attacked another British Army unit in their search for the mysterious Jules.
We moved back to location 60 while the SSI team performed a successful, albeit very noisy, emergency surgery treatment on their downed leader. They were rather incautious for people who had been ranting about snipers a short while earlier. During this time one member of the team was rather keen on attacking them while they were busy, but the rest of the team voted this down.
A rereading of the original message, reading purely every second word read ESCAPE ROUTE GATE ONE ZERO so off we went on another wild goose chase. This time we had the SSI unit with us. Area 10 was a bust, but SSI came up with another plan to get us out of the mess we were in, shotgun searching the area. The idea was to cover as much ground as possible searching for the gate before the deadline passed. We didn't get very far before time ran out.
MISSION OBJECTIVE: Partial Success
Search of location 61 using normal light instead of red instantly showed a message on the wall. If we had breached our search protocol earlier we would likely have been OK.
Intel later advised that the situation was likely being used by Nakamura Corp.
